SMA Class Rules

1. Extremely polite manners, language, and actions are always expected in the Synergy Martial Arts Studio.
2. Children are not to go outside of Synergy Martial Arts building without their parents.
3. We have a lot of children in and out of class everyday, and cannot be responsible for them when they are not in class.  Please get permission from Mr. McKay If your children need to be dropped off or picked up more than 15 minutes before or after class. 
4. No horseplay in the Karate studio.  Proper conduct is expected of every student in or out of the school at all times.
5.  Always come preparred for class,  students must have all pertective gear on  Athletic supporters/ cups should always be worn if the student does not have one he or she needs to inform the instructor. Mouth guards should be kept in there bags so they are always available for sparring.  Gi/uniforms top and bottoms should always be worn. 
6. If you have any problems or concerns, we encourage you to discuss them directly with Mr. McKay.
7. Students, parents and guests will not converse with any person involved in a class session without permission from the instructor. 
8.  During class, students are expected to push themselves to their personal best.  However,  the instructor should always be informed about pre-existing injuries or disabilities so that individual modifications can be made.
9.  Students should always come to class with good proper higean,  clean hands and feet, hair combed, finger and toe nails kept short, uniforms kept clean.

Classroom Rules and Traditions

Kenpo Karate places a very important emphasis on traditional courtesy and established procedures.  Here are some standard courtesies that may be unfamiliar to new students.  They help make our Kenpo school a special place of respect and personal discipline.

1.  Please remove Shoes and socks before entering the training area.
2.  Please use the restroom before class begins.
3.  No jewelry should be worn during class.
4.  Your uniform should be clean and patches properly in place at all times.
5.  Do not place your belt, that you have spent so much energy earning, on the floor or ground,  your belt should be tied to hang evenly, as one side represents the mind and the other side represents the body.
6.  Students always stop and bow upon entering and leaving the workout area.
7.  If entering the class late,  the student waits at the entrance with raised hand.  When recognized by the instructor,  the student requests permission to enter class.
8.  At the beginning and ending of each class, the students line up by rank.
9.  Students are encouraged to participate in class enthusiastically,  however, they are to avoid unnecessary conversation.  Should you have a question, raise your hand and wait to be recognized by the instructor.
10.  Do not enter or leave class without permission from your instructor. 
11. Complaining, talking out, or arguing about class directions is totally unacceptable.
12.  Bring your required safety equipment everyday and put your name on every piece of equipment and on your equipment bag.
13. Students should not free spar without the instructors permission.
14.  Students should not break boards without an instructors supervision.
15.Hair should be worn very neat and off the shoulders.
16. No one is allowed to use any equipment without permission.
17.  All students are expected to be courteous and understanding.  Advanced students are expected to set a good example to new students and to assist such students wheneer necessary.
